Mission Statement: Ocean View School District ensures that all students achieve academic success and are prepared to live and learn in a rapidly changing world by providing rigorous and relevant learning experiences and empowering families and staff to work together.
As Superintendent of Ocean View School District, I am proud of the many wonderful accomplishments of our schools and how we achieve our Mission to ensure the academic and emotional success of all students. Our Ocean View “family” is a gem of preschool through 8th grade education along the Ventura County coast.
In Ocean View, we believe our students deserve a world-class educational experience. Our highly qualified, dedicated teachers focus student work on rigorous and relevant grade level standards. With small class sizes, teachers work with small groups and provide one-on-one support to ensure student academic success using newly approved standards-based curricula such as ARC Core reading, Eureka Math and Amplify science. Our students can experience a variety of enrichment opportunities, including a rich music/marching band program, dual language immersion program, honors classes, STEAM labs, makerspaces, fine arts integration, dancing programs, a robust after school program and much more!
Ocean View classrooms have state-of-the-art technology including one to one iPads in grades 2 through 8, multimedia presentation equipment featuring 70 inch LED high-resolution TVs and superior wifi access. We ensure tech literacy, and online safety is emphasized through a comprehensive technology curriculum taught to students. Grade level content is learned and enhanced through tech integration with the curriculum.
Our District is committed to environmentally sustainable practices such as our recycling program and solar power grid. Our clean and beautifully maintained schools provide superb learning environments on our campuses. Each school has an outdoor garden in which students can learn about and sample a delicious variety of fruits and vegetables. Two of our campuses have fruit orchards as well. These gardens are connected to our Nutrition Services program in which all students receive first rate, scratch-made meals for breakfast and lunch at no cost to all families.
Key to student and staff safety are the relationships our teachers build with every student, ensuring they feel safe and secure. Additionally, counselors and psychologists are on staff at each school, and the District partners with Navy Base Ventura County to provide military counseling services, the Anchored 4 Life program, and Military Teens Club.
Our excellent programs and staff members ensure that students thrive and find success in Ocean View School District.
